Spain

Spain is located on western Europe’s Iberian Peninsula and bordered by Portugal to its northwest, France and Andorra to its northeast and Gibraltar, on the south coast. Spain is also the only European country that boarders Africa.

Spain is the UK’s 7th largest trading partner and, in the year ended June 2019, total UK exports to Spain amounted to £18.1 billion, an increase of 1.4% when compared to the previous year (ONS, 2019). This highlights a demand for UK goods and services in Spain which UK businesses looking to export could benefit from.
Ports: Algeciras, Barcelona, Bilbao, Cartagena, Ferrol, Las Palmas, Palma, Seville and Valencia.

Catalonia

Catalonia is an autonomous community on the northeastern corner of Spain and is of immense value to the Spanish economy as a whole. Only taking up 6.3% of Spain my mass and containing 16% of the total population, Catalonia still generates 20% of Spain’s GDP and accounts for a quarter of its exports. Barcelona and Tarragona are also seaports, and major ones at that. Aside from being two of the main ports of the Mediterranean, being both financially more attractive than the Northern European ports, and beneficial on transit times to Asia. Further to this, Barcelona is also a transit hub for some of our other road freight services to Andorra and the Balearic Islands, consisting of Majorca (Mallorca), Minorca (Menorca), Ibiza and Formentera.

South East

The South East of Spain is one of Spain’s most important regions. The areas primary exports are ceramic tiles, natural stone and marble, iron products, foodstuffs and beverages. Insight Trans Logistics largest import from this region is Carminic tile.

Basque Region

Another Autonomous Community if Spain is the Basque country which is located in the western Pyrenees, straddling the border between France and Spain on the coast of the Bay of Biscay. With the strongest sectors of its economy being the manufacturing sector which is present in Gipuzkoa that is known for manufacturing Aeronautics and rail way equipment Beasain.

The Balearics islands

The Balearics are a group of islands in the Mediterranean Sea off the eastern coast of the Iberian Peninsula and are renowned as a massive tourist location. The four largest islands for which Insight Trans Logistics Ltd transport goods to are services to are Majorca (Mallorca), Minorca (Mecorca), Ibiza & Formentera. Delivery to these islands are usually for specific projects or work, and not as common of a route for us at Insight Trans Logistics.
