A long-standing customer of Insight Trans Logistics, that supplies high quality marine products to vessels and docks worldwide, needed to get hose equipment to a vessel off the coast of El Salvador to carry out a ship-to-ship transfer of LPG. However, the goods were in Gibraltar and the only airport they could be flown from with such urgency was Brussels airport. Insight Trans Logistics had 36 hours to get the goods out of Gibraltar and transported the 2,230km journey from their location in Gibraltar to Brussels Airport.

Fortunately, due to the regular groupage service from UK to Gibraltar, Insight Trans Logistics had a vehicle in Gibraltar, ready to deploy at short notice. However, it was immediately apparent that this challenge wouldn’t be possible with just one driver and one truck, as this would have taken roughly 4 days and missed the deadline. Insight Trans Logistics’ planning team got straight on the challenge to map out the strategic positioning the 5 drivers that were involved in this initiative to identify their precise locations throughout Spain and France. By allowing the shipment to continuously move across the continent this would ensure the cargo would meet the deadline for catching the flight out of Brussels to continue with its onward shipment.

With a careful plan now in place, it was then down to the drivers and excellent teamwork to make this happen. Once the cargo was out of Gibraltar the 5 drivers worked seamlessly to ensure they managed their driving hours efficiently to guarantee the cargo could continually move as planned towards its destination. The outcome of this mission, resulted in the target being met, with the cargo leaving Gibraltar at 12:00 midday Friday and arriving in Brussel airport at 21:00 Saturday – a huge achievement.
